The files on this CD-ROM include the version 1.0 digital release of the Oak Ridges Moraine (ORM) regional structural model. The model was developed under the Geological Survey of Canada National Mapping Program (NATMAP) and Hydrologeology Projects in collaboration with several partners. Digital elevation models (DEM) that defines the top five major stratigraphic units are included. The units are, from the oldest to the youngest: 1) Paleozoic bedrock, 2) Lower sediment, 3) Newmarket Till, 4) Oak Ridges Moraine sediment, 5) Halton Till. Accompanying each DEM surface is a confidence map that is based on the proximity and relative quality of data control points. Surfaces were produced using Triangular Irregular Network and Natural Neighbour interpolations in MapInfo Professional with Vertical Mapper. Database management, data analysis and programming were completed using Microsoft Access 2000 and Visual Basic for Applications. DEM surfaces and confidence maps are viewable with MapInfo Proviewer included with the release for convenience. For viewing the surfaces in other GIS software, including ArcInfo, a standard ASCII grid version of each file is also provided.
