Sandilands are located in the south of Manitoba, just south-east of Winnipeg. It extends from the international border in the south to the Trans-Canada Highway in the north and from Whitemouth Lake in the east to the east of Steinbach in the west. The Sandilands includes a sedimentary aquifer that mainly consists of subaqueous outwash sands and gravels. It designates an important recharge area for the aquifers of south Manitoba such as the basal clastic Aquifer. The dataset mainly focuses on the surficial aquifer, hydraulic conductivities, groundwater flow and recharge rates. However there are also data concerning surficial sediment thickness and groundwater quality. The dataset is a summary of data and hydrogeological information for all aquifers, aquifer systems and hydrogeological contexts of Sandilands project.
This dataset was created to provide a regional frame of the spatial distribution of the hydrostratigraphic units and hydrogeological contexts within Sandilands area.
