This dataset shows the hydrogeological contexts of the Châteauguay regional aquifer, covering the Chateauguay River watershed. The Chateauguay aquifer exhibits three hydrogeological contexts: free, confined and semi-confined conditions. The free conditions are found where the deposits are thin, particularly at high elevations in the United States and between Saint-Chrysostome and Saint-Clotilde-de-Châteauguay. The confined conditions are mainly found in the Chateauguay River valley and on the St. Lawrence River shores. The semi-confined conditions are observed on other portions of the basin.
The confining conditions were created to provide a regional frame of the aquifer confinement.
