Châteauguay is located in the south of Quebec, just southeast of Montreal. The sector extends from Upper Châteauguay Lake in the state of New York to the Saint-Louis Lake. It consists of a large aquifer system including two aquifer types: bedrock fractured and surficial. The bedrock aquifer is found in the entire area while the surficial aquifers are discontinuous. The dataset focuses on the aquifer regional system, describing groundwater flow and the main hydrogeological characteristic of the aquifers. It also includes information on the confinement, hydrogeological units thickness, wells depth, recharge and discharge, groundwater usage, aquifer vulnerability and groundwater quality. The dataset is a summary of data and hydrogeological information for all aquifers, aquifer systems and hydrogeological contexts of the Châteauguay project.
This dataset was created to provide a regional frame of the spatial distribution of the hydrostratigraphic units and hydrogeological contexts within Chateauguay area.
