The Richelieu sector is located in the south of Quebec, just west of Montreal. It is limited in the north by St. Anne-de-Sorel and in the south by the international border. There are multiple borders in the east and the west, as Longueuil in the west and Memphremagog Lake in the east. The sector is devided into five hydrogeological units, based on geology and surficial deposits. The dataset mainly describes the geological and stratigraphic context and groundwater flow with details on recharge areas. The dataset also provides information on confinement, surficial sediment thickness, wells depth, groundwater depth, bedrock hydraulic conductivity, discharge, groundwater usage, aquifer vulnerability and groundwater quality. The dataset is a summary of data and hydrogeological information for all aquifers, aquifer systems and hydrogeological contexts of the Richelieu project.
This dataset was created to provide a regional frame of the spatial distribution of the hydrostratigraphic units and hydrogeological contexts within Richelieu area.
